The Incredible "Music" Journey

It has been an incredible journey creating music and honing my craft. There have been times I have been challenged, taken for granted, used and abused! Many things have "come for me" trying to break my spirit, and my will to emerge as a musician. But, I'll have none of that as the words of Maya Angelou says, "Still I Rise". I have been blessed with the gift of music and feel that it is my "Birthright" to create, inspire and share my music with the world. It might not suit everyone's groove, but it all comes from a place deep inside me. It comes from having gone up the rough side of the mountain and sliding down steep slopes.

I am excited to be on this journey no matter where it leads me. Please come along and share my journey. My CDs are available on all the digital platforms. I hope you have an opportunity to listen to them and find meaning as you traverse your incredible journey called LIFE!

CD: "Thru the Door" -

As I was contemplating my future, I knew that I would have to go "Thru the Door", that would lead me onward. It was like the Pevensie siblings going through the wardrobe door in the Chronicles of Narnia. Whatever the challenges, whatever the consequences, I would have to go forward. Creating music sent me cruising. I was on my way, top speed, "Thru the Door"

CD: "Oceans"

As I took the first steps "Thru the Door" I knew that before long the waves would come crashing in pounding upon the seashore. There would be waves at high tide which could knock me off my foundation. But, at the Ocean, there would also be moments of serenity, with golden sunsets, cool breezes, and the change to build castles in the sand.

CD: "On the Way"                                                                                                                              I was "On the Way" to exploring new things, making plans for my future, and taking life as it came at me. Reaching adulthood brought the good, the bad, and the ugly. There were times when I could see the light of day, and other times filled with nightmares of circumstances. There were times that were oh, so good! Then there were times when I couldn't find my way. There were times when I asked others for directions and they pointed me in the wrong direction. I went through darkness, blindness, loneliness, and lost-ness in the forest like Hansel and Gretel. But,...                                        https://johndavidblack.com/album/713657/on-the-way-2018

CD: "On the Way Back"

Like Lot escaping Sodom and Gomorrah, there were footpaths, and signs to help me "On the Way Back".  It was a rocky road, stony path, but I "kept on keeping on". My determination, voices of my ancestors, and mentors along the way showed me the way until...

CD: "Birthright"                                                                                                                          I came into my "Birthright". You know the Prodigal Son went through some things (hard things, shameful things) and Esau went through some things (painful, regretful things). Well, so did I, and those things helped me find my birthright, embrace it, and use it for the purpose for which it was given. To God be the "Praise" and "Glory". "I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end". - Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV).                        https://johndavidblack.com/album/927920/birthright-2018
