Music & Art (Universal Languages of the World)

I had a wonderful time at the Unbound Visual Arts Expo 2018 which was held on May 5th and 6th, 2018 at the Prudential Center’s Huntington Arcade
800 Boylston St , Boston, MA.

Throughout the years it took to become an Eagle Scout, I learned that as part of my civic responsibility, I should be available to serve my community in any small way. Providing musical selections at the City Heart 8th show presented by Unbound Visual Arts was a very special moment for me.
City Heart Art Show and Sales is an annual art show and sale in Boston, MA featuring local homeless and low-income artists. City Heart was founded in 2011 by Liz Powers. The show was founded because there was a wealth of wonderful art created by local homeless and low-income individuals but a lack of opportunity to share it with the community.

Throughput the year, the artists create art in community-based art studios that provide free art materials and professional art guidance.  These studios are managed by several programs in the Boston area including the Cambridge Women’s Center, Common Art, New England Center for Homeless Veterans, St. Francis House, Pine Street Inn, and Women’s Lunch Place.

Despite mental illness, past addictions, and disabilities, every City Heart artist has risen to the challenge of supporting themselves through the exhibition and sale of their artwork. Some are professional trained and others are community artists but all use art to help create a new future for themselves.

I am looking forward to many more opportunities to remain active in my community.
